What We Believe
We started as a small band of brothers and sisters in Christ meeting regularly in homes with one purpose in mind - to grow deep roots of relationship and doctrine. We believe that those two go hand-in-hand. Christianity was always meant to be done in the context of relationship. Even the foundational doctrine of the Trinity (the relationship between the three persons of the Godhead) point us to the basic reality that God designed us to grow in community with each other as we grow deeper in our connection with Him. So that's exactly what we did - over the course of several months we studied every governing doctrine for Rooted Church. We worked through various views, challenged each other's thinking, and sought God for clarity about His Word. Below are the doctrinal positions that we developed as a team, and that guide our ministry and our lives.

The Bible
We believe in the authenticity, the authority, and the inerrancy of God‘s written Word as canonized in the sixty-six books of the Bible, and should be understood within its literary and historical context.

The Trinity
We believe in One God who exists in Three Persons, abiding in Love - The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, equal and eternal.

Salvation
We believe that man has been given free will by God to choose or reject salvation. Salvation is attained by grace, through faith that produces good works in Christ.

Atonement
We believe that Christ accomplished through His death and victorious resurrection, atonement for our sins, to bring us into right standing with God, giving us a moral example of love, mercy and justice.

The Church
We believe that the head of the church is Christ, who established two official governing roles, elders and trustees (deacons), who must qualify in accordance with 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Elders operate as overseers and trustees operate with the delegated authority of the eldership.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit
We believe that we are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit at salvation. Believers are empowered by God to be witnesses through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts as He sees fit for the edification of the Church and the advancement of the Kingdom.

New Testament Giving
We believe that New Testament giving is determined in the heart of each giver and should be offered cheerfully and not out of a sense of obligation, but as an act of worship.
